Stock photography agencies pay photographers for each image' download / sale.
At microstock sites the prices can start as low as $0.25.
However, if you were successful to create a real bestselling image you can easy get a few hundreds downloads a month.
Thus, your earning calculation goes as follow: $0.25 x 500 = $125 monthly - just for a single image!
Shooting 10 bestsellers monthly could generate you $1,250 monthly income – definitely not a bad return for a few hours of your time.
"Macro" stock agencies like Alamy sell your images well over $100 a sale, typically paying you at least 50% of the final price.
The rule of thumb says the more images you have for sale in each and every stock photography agency the more images you sell and
the higher monthly income you get.
Stock agencies send you a check or a PayPal transfer at the end of every month if you have reached a certain amount of sales, typically $100 from your last payment.

Well, here is it. Avoid shooting: flowers close-ups, pets portraits, typical landscapes and city scenes. The competition is tight there.
Be aware that most modern buildings are copyrighted, so you can not sell their images.
Alternatively, try to materialize concepts and business ideas, for instance ‘success’, ‘failure’ and ‘partnership’.
