  • Properly prepare your images before uploading them to stock photo sites. First of all it means digital editing. There are many software applications that can help you editing your image, starting from the industry standard de-facto Adobe Photoshop, followed up by the newest and much cheaper Adobe Lightroom and ending up with Google’s Picassa, which is quite limited in its editing capabilities, but is available free of charge. Do your best editing your pixels and it will pay you back.

An online stock image should attract buyers when they look at a small thumbnail, so invest your time in proper image croping, color saturation and object isolation, where applicable. However, making your image look gorgeous is still not enough to create a bestselling picture. Think about buyers. Buyers still have to find your image among all the similar pictures in the web image database provided by a stock agency.

It means you have to describe your image using appropriative keywords, title and description. It is extremely important to do your keywording before uploading images to a stock photo site. If you failed to do that before the upload, you will need to add keywords at every stock site, which is an extremely time consuming procedure.

Fortunately, keywords data can be injected directly into the JPG file, so every image will carry its own keywords. This image metadata modification protocol is called IPTC and is implemented by some graphical applications, e.g. Adobe Photoshop. However, even in Photoshop editing IPTC data and selection of proper descriptive keywords can take a lot of time, particularly if you are much better in taking pictures than in describing them in words. And if you just like that, be sure you are not alone. Many professional photographers have exactly the same problem and would prefer to spend their time on shooting rather on keywording.

The problem is that the buyers will never find your image if it is loosely keyworded! In opposite, proper keywording plus uploading to multiple sites significantly boosts your sales. Working with many stock sites, photographers wish to keep their workflow in control, having a track record on what image was uploaded to which site and when. One might be completely lost trying to manage her images after uploading a few tens of photos to multiple stock agencies. What images were already uploaded and where? Were them approved or rejected by the site inspectors? How many downloads I got from this image?

Fortunately, ProStockMaster has answers to all these questions. The application sports semi-automated keywording and IPTC data editing, EXIF reading and provides simultaneous images upload to multiple leading stock photography agencies, keeping a perfect tracking record for every uploaded image. And we offer a free license with no expiration period! The free license allows up to 5 uploads daily, which certainly should be enough to jump start your stock photography career.
