What are the minimum hardware requirements for running PSM?

ProStockMaster is a Java application and together with JVM it needs at least 1 GB RAM for proper images handling. For the convenient work we recommend 2GB RAM or more. We also recommend you using a CPU which is built for multithreading, such as Intel Core Duo / Duo 2. Such CPU helps you to explore the unleashed power of ProStockMaster' intelligent multithreading proprietary technology.
Even if you do not have the latest hardware ProStockMaster will serve you well. The application was tested on Mac PowerPC G4/G5 and on Windows computers with Intel Pentium III/IV CPUs. While ProStockMaster will still function properly on these machines, we can not guarantee a state-of-the-art application' performance on these relatively old hardware.

I am not sure that I have any Java installation on my computer. Will ProStockMaster work on my system?

Windows: ProStockMaster installation comes with an embedded JVM and the software will run on Windows regardless of prior Java availability.
Mac: ProStockMaster will run on any Mac OS with Java 5. Any modern OS X has a built-in Java Virtual Machine and most of them run Java 5.
Linux: You will have to download and install Sun' Java from Sun web site. We can not guarantee the proper application behavior for the other Java flavors available on Linux-es.

How ProStockMaster handles image' metadata? If I add a keyword or modify the image title, will my picture change?

ProStockMaster supports IPTC and Adobe XMP metadata, available in JPG and some others images formats. The IPTC and XMP information is stored in the image file separately from the other data used for the images visualisation. Thus, editing metadata does not affect the image itself (no pixels change), but do modifies the image file.

Is there any advantage of adding metadata directly to my local images instead of doing it at a stock agency web?

Yes, there are few obvious advantages of managing your metadata locally.
First, you do it once for all the stock agencies. Any agency can read IPTC data from the uploaded file, so you can save a lot of time adding metadata just once with ProStockMaster instead of doing it each time for every agency you work with. If you start working with a new agency you just send them ready-to-go images, instead of visiting their web and typing keywords for the entire portfolio you want to host there.
Second, once you have the local files indexed with metadata you can better organise your work and be in control of your local images portfolio. With metdata inside, you can find your images by a keyword or by any string pattern matching their titles and descriptions.

I have a series of similar images from a sport event / my studio / travelling. Can I add the same keywords, title and description with ProStockMaster for all these images instead of going one by one?

Yes, you can easily do it with ProStockMaster. Open "Manage Metadata" window and generate or add directly your keywords. Type in the title and the description and select images to apply your metadata set. All the images that you have selected will get the same metadata.

I prefer light backgorunds and dark texts. Is there any other alternative to the default dark grey graphics of the application?

Yes, there are multiple alternative GUI choices. Starting from v1.5.1 ProStockMaster is delivered with more than 25 GUI skins, so going to "View->Skins" menu you can select the look-and-feel which you like.

I have trouble with the auto-upgrade procedure. How I can get the latest upgrade?

Just get the full software distribution archive from our site. On Windows, install the new archive in the same folder where the previous software version was installed. On Mac and Linux decompress the archive and save the new "ProStockMaster" folder whenever you want to, then run the application and press "Connect" button, connecting to your existing database.

English is not my mother tongue while all the stock agencies expect my images to be indexed with metadata in plain English. I understood that ProStockMaster can help me. How exactly?

ProStockMaster allows you to describe images in your native language, supporting 23 input languages. You can enter your keywords in German, French, Spanish, Dutch and other supported languages and ProStockMaster will translate them on the fly, showing you the English translation. You can even auto-generate more English keywords directly from a keyword in your native language.

I have added / modfied a file in the folder, curretnly viewed in PSM. However, PSM does not show the new file / the modification. What I can do to get this file in PSM?

Just press 'F5' to refresh the viewed folder.

Do you guys plan adding more stock agencies?

Yes, we periodically add new stock agencies to our list of supported sites.

Can I upload vector graphics with ProStockMaster?

We are working on it. Vectors uploading will be available soon.

Do you plan to continue developing and supporting ProStockMaster for Windows, Mac and Linux?

Yes, we are committed to keep delivering our software on these three major software platforms.

I have uploaded a file to agency XYZ. The file was accepted, but when I open it with ProStockMaster the status is still "pending". Should I report it as a bug?

Automatic collection of the per-file upload statuses and the per-file statistics is not implemented yet. We are working on it and the implementation is agency-dependant. For some agencies this data will be availbale sooner than for others.
